ABOUT US

Save A Child founder and executive director Sally Becker has been working in areas of conflict since 1993. Sally has been honoured three times this year for her extraordinary humanitarian work. In June she received the Inspirational Women’s Award, followed by the Pride of Britain Lifetime Achievement Award. In November she was invited to the Aurora Prize Ceremony in New York, where she was recognised with an Aurora Humanitarian Award for her lifelong dedication to protecting children in conflict zones. These honours reflect a lifetime of courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping save the lives of children in some of the world’s most dangerous conflicts.

From Mostar to Mosul, Sally’s decades of work on the ground have helped her develop a strong understanding of the challenges and complexities involved in providing children with urgent assistance.

During a mission to help victims of ISIS in Northern Iraq, she enlisted the help of a small team of remote paediatric specialists to assist doctors treating children on the front lines, which resulted in improved diagnosis and treatment for thousands of children.

Recognising the urgent need for a solution that can transcend borders and reach communities in resource constrained areas, Sally brought together a team of experts in telemedicine and paediatric health to create a Global Paediatric Network connecting specialists to doctors treating children in besieged or remote areas. Read more...
